Plenary Talks

Mobile Robotics for Transport - The Oxford Autonomous Car Project Prof. Paul Newman **

Paul will talk about long term vast scale navigation. What things must we do, what questions must we pose, to have a robot navigate precisely over days, weeks and hundreds of miles? How might a robot get better at doing that over time and in teams? Can we envision life-long-learning for a robot? What sensors and representations are apt? And of course - why might we want a robot to have such competencies? Could that be valuable? Of course it could…..and it will end up looking car shaped. Cars  Above all the thing that makes this possible is computing. Lots and lots of computing.

**  A few static slides would not do this talk justice. You can watch substantially the same talk using this link:

Corporate Insider Threats – Perceptions on Scale and Risk, and Research Into New Detection Solutions Prof. Sadie Creese PDF

There is little doubt that we face cyber attacks which emanate from the inside of enterprises. Many feel that the level of attacks and resulting losses are vastly under-reported, and that the level of threat we are witnessing is only set to rise. This talk will provide an overview the research being conducted into new techniques for insider-threat detection by Oxford researchers and their partners at Leicester and Cardiff. It will include highlights from recent survey work exploring perceptions and common practice, as well as an overview of early findings of human behavioural indicators and the detection system being developed by the project.
