Joe Doupnik

Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Utah State University.
On sabbatical leave with OUCS at Oxford University.

Prof Doupnik has been tinkering with computers for long time, from designer to programmer to manager. He has used Unix since the mid-70's and has an original AT&T source code license. He has made many contributions to open source software as well as closed projects. Best known open source is MS-DOS Kermit. He teaches computer networking, operating systems internals, and even a course on writing Linux device drivers. Experience counts, and he wishes to impart some of that for the benefit of all who are trying to do better, without turning folks into experts. Prof Doupnik also spends a lot of time working with Novell on products, and many of his ex-students write the code for those products. He also thinks these matters are great fun, not work at all.

Prof Doupnik will be with OUCS for the coming year, working on Oxford matters, on concerns of the UK academic community, and on a technical projects of personal interest.
